Liz Rigney

CTV Atlantic

Liz Rigney has worked at CTV Atlantic for 30 years – both in front of and behind the camera.

 

She hosted the first-ever CTV Atlantic morning show – Breakfast Television - for over 8 years then moved to the newsroom where she reported for both the CTV News at 5 and 6.  She has won several journalism industry awards – including 3 Edward R. Murrow awards.

 

Rigney is now the Manager of Community Relations and Promotions.  She also produces the annual IWK Telethon for Children.

 

Along with a journalism degree from the University of Kings College, Liz also studied music at Dalhousie University.  She has been a featured soloist with the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo and has performed at a variety of fundraisers including a Different Stage of Mind for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.

 

She has performed with the P.E.I. Symphony and has appeared regularly with The Stadacona Band of the Royal Canadian Navy.  She is currently lead vocalist with the G Street Band – the Saturday night house band at The Pacifico in Halifax.  She has released two CD’s and is an ECMA award winner.

 

In 2023, Liz co-founded the Orchid Gala - a fundraiser aiming to improve access to gynaecological health care for women in Nova Scotia.  Last year, the event raised $500,000 to help develop a state-of-the-art Pelvic Health Suite at the Dartmouth General Hospital.

 

Liz is a committee member of the Great Big Dig in support of the IWK Foundation and is also on the Board of the Atlantic Film Festival.
